New Site Who Dis?

Ok. Brand new site. This concept has been in the works for quite a while but I hadn’t really had the resources to launch it and maintain it until recently. The biggest thing I was going to do was to simply post all the recipes we use / have for dinner. That way when we do our dinner menus we could just open up my website and peruse the good good food.

So, once I start loading recipes you’ll be able to do the same. Depending on if I can figure out how to do some things I might be able to tag dishes with the ingredients and then all “chicken” recipes would come up. That is the hope. Also, you should know, my recipes aren’t going to be coming to this place with all the SEO or other life novels that “real recipe” sites use. I don’t give to pine needles whether or not my recipes make it into the google results. This is mainly for a “if you know you know” group and everyone can enjoy the simplisticness. Also, also, you should know my recipes are more like – chicken, noodles, sauce, vegetables. There is going to be few measurements for dinner recipes since honestly, add as much chicken as you want. Add as much cheese to your quesadilla as you can stomach. I’m not your momma, you can have the cheese. Anywho, you’ll see once I get to that point. For now, I am loading cookie jars. And also more cookie jars.

I will be having a collection of over 200 cookie jars. My father left them to me and he had collected at least 221 by my count. That is a guess at this point as I still need to pick them up and take pictures and count and see what condition they are in, etc. I do know there was an assortment. These cookie jars that I’ve been able to identify from just room or shelf pictures are from McCoy (100), American Bisque (10), 20th Century Fox (2 – R2D2), Avon, American Pottery, California Originals, Cumberland Ware / Roman Ceramics, Disneyana, Doranne of CA, Germany (I guess just the whole country), Japan (again I guess the whole country), Libby Glass, Maddux of CA, MCM, Metlox (9), Morton Pottery, Muppet Inc, Pearl China, People Lover, Pottery Guild, Regal China, Redwing, Roseville, Shawnee Pottery (9), Twin Winton, Terrace Ceramics, Stanford, USA Pottery, Walt Disney / Joe Carioca, Treasure Craft, and Wisecarver. There is likely more, but those are the ones I was able to pick up just from the googling pictures and knowing my stuff.

I’ve also done some woodworking projects – I helped a friend build a bar in his basement last year and built a desk for my partner this year. The bar utilized an old desk that we repurposed, restained, covered in weathered wood (like fence posts), and created an awesome 2-tier experience. The desk was an old cedar chest that I broke down, reglued, sawed, sanded, and assembled with an A-frame leg build. Pictures of both to be posted in due time.

The other sections of the site are just going to be photo dumps of flowers, pottery, ceramics, etc. Just random stuff really. I did have a pretty good idea about different ceramic marks and will do a ceramic mark reference guide just like the cookie jar reference guide. Why? Because I already did the work when I was selling those types of things so I may as well share that information so another person will be able to save hours of searching random marks. Also, a lot of reference guides don’t really have the best pictures. Either they were made back when they were using point and shoot film cameras, or their references are just not good quality pictures. I did spend the time to take good pictures since I was posting them on my Etsy site and wanted to make sure folks knew the provenance. Turns out most people don’t really care, but for some it is worth the time to look.
